Teen Council is open to all 4-H members between the ages of 13 to 19. 4-Hers can join as soon as they turn 13. Teen Council provides opportunities for teens to interact with other teens from all over Delaware County. Activities include cultural, educational, social and community service events. Teens are also asked to help in the Youth Building at the Delaware County Fair and have access to many state opportunities for 4-H teens.
All are welcome, you don’t need to be a Teen Council member to participate. 4-H teens and volunteers meet once a month to make the annual 4-H Teen Council quilt which is sold in the Youth Building at the Delaware County Fair in August. Proceeds from the quilt help to reduce the cost of 4-H Teen Council activities for members. Teens socialize while learning sewing skills.
Each September an organizational meeting takes place, where teens are responsible for planning the activities for the year and working together to make decisions. Some of the activities they have planned in the past include roller skating; bowling; laser tag, walking dogs and socializing cats at the Humane Society; attending plays at Orpheus Theatre in Oneonta; skiing; laser tag; and going to Zoom Flume Water Park; to mention a few.
Teens have the opportunity to apply for a number of incredible trips and awards by completing their 4-H Member Record Books. View Trips & Awards
